Review : The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead

Summary from Goodreads:

Tough, brainy alchemist Sydney Sage and doe-eyed Moroi princess Jill Dragomir are in hiding at a human boarding school in the sunny, glamorous world of Palm Springs, California. The students--children of the wealthy and powerful--carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie, and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.

Thoughts:

Hello everyone! I finished the second book in the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead a couple of days ago and I thought I'd let you in on my thoughts on the book, I wouldn't exactly call it a review seeing as I feel I don't have much to say, but I'd like to share anyways.

So the book begins right where Bloodlines left off and once again we have Sydney Sage, an alchemist, as our narrator. The second time around I must say I enjoyed her character even more. She is put together and collected , but when she finally lets go it's great to read.

As for the plot of the novel ... ehhh this is where things get iffy with me. I didn't exactly enjoy the fact that 1/3 into the book I couldn't see where the plot was going. Don't get me wrong I didn't mind too much, but I felt that I would be disappointed when the final plot reveal came and sadly that was exactly what happened- well more like I was a little let down. I hate to sounds so harsh because really I loved the book. The only problem was that the characters made me love the book much for than the plot did, although there were certain things that happened that I really enjoyed.

And oh my, chapter 24!! If ever there was a cliff hanger it was the ending of this book! It really pushed me over the age and made me finally decide to read the next book in the series when it comes out ! I look forward to seeing how this series progresses. Even though I was a bit let down by the plot, I must say that it was an enjoyable read.

  1. Nice review! Starts with an introduction to the storyline and moves to the review. Lists just what a reader needs to know, before grabbing one for reading. Thanks!
